Dead-end steel tower, also named anchor tower or anchor pylon, uses horizontal strain insulators and occur at the endpoints of conductors. Such endpoints are necessary when interfacing with other modes of power transmission and, due to the inflexibility of the conductors, when significantly altering the direction of the tower line. Dead-end towers are also employed at branch points as branch pylons. A tower at which the power line runs further as overhead line and as underground cable is a branch tower for a cable branch.
A branch pylon is used to start a line branch. The branch pylon is responsible for holding up both the main line and the start of the branch line. This makes a branch pylon also an anchor pylon since it must resist forces from both lines.
MEGATRO is one of the few manufactures who provide dead-end tower and assemble every tower section. This attention to quality may not be the cheapest process but it does insure every tower meets our high standards of quality. And it helps to reduce on-site construction cost due to mismatched assemblies.
After fabrication all towers are delivered to the galvanizing facility to be Hot DIP Galvanized. Towers are processed through the facility by Caustic Cleaning, Pickling, and then Fluxing. These strict procedures insure years of maintenance free towers.
